DIY colorful egg cups with Washi Masking Tape - from Naulis creative space

Colorful Masking Tapes from Washi, Japanese ricepaper don't let us stop using them. Since we offer them in our shop, we have a big variety now. Yes, we know, lucky us :) Today we thought about Easter and used a bit of free time to try out something new. At our place Easter is celebrated by a huge big family breakfast and one thing always missing are enough good looking egg cups. Last year we made some Origami egg cups from paper. This year we'll make this one.

Here comes the small tutorial: What you need is thin carton, ideal it should be chromocarton, as it is elastic and still strong enough, and Washi Tape or any other Masking Tape.

1. Schritt: Schneide das Papier in 3,5 x 17 cm große Streifen.
1st Step: Cut the paper or Chromocarton in 3,5 x 17cm big pieces.

2nd Step: Take an egg of the size you'll boil and put the chromocarton around it, so that the egg will not fall through but stand well. Mark this size on your chromocarton!

Take the exact measurement with a ruler and mark this size, so that it's positioned in the middle of your chromocarton.
Für unsere Eier brauchen wir 13cm Abstand.
In our case we needed 13cms or 5.11inch.

4th step: Cut your chromocarton like seen here:

5. Schritt: Stecke den fertigen Eierbecher zum Ring! Fertig!
5th step: Put both ends together! Ready!

When you put your egg in the first time, you should push it a bit, as this will bring this simple egg stand in shape. And one more note: If you're not sure about your measurement, wait with decorating with the masking tape untill you're sure that the size is right.

Viel Spaß beim nachmachen! Much fun making this!
